This just came to me today...hope it encourages you.
My world's spinning, and so is yours. My world's going to school, yours is too.
My world's eats three meals or more a day, yours is probably doing the same thing.
In our perfect little blessed, boxed world, where we complain about sweating, and water tasting weird, dropped calls, and waiting more than a minute in the drive through...we nonchalantly live. Most of us have a regular schedule; we have sports, appointments, church and sleepovers.
As I pondered these thoughts my Compassion girl popped into my mind. She lives with her grandma, in a little hut, in Kenya, Africa. I have no idea how many friends she has, how many meals a day she gets, if she even knows what a cell phone is. I'm so excited about meeting her in September; she's like a little sister.
I’m thinking about how I moaned at the toaster telling it to hurry up this morning, why? Because It was helping me. Get a bagel. Just perfect. So we could eat it. Doesn't make much sense? Sylvia’s everyday reality hits me sometimes though. She has less than enough, and I definitely have more.
Yet, almost every one of us, every single time we are unsatisfied complain, we whine, we curse or slap or yell. If we don’t physically react to it, we say it, don’t say it we’re thinking it. But what's the point? That’s just it. There is no point to being annoyed by things we are given.
How stupid we are some times, really, what utterly selfish whiners. We’re even told not to be and we still do! Philippians 2:14a Do everything without Complaining. Let's try to not be whiners at least for this weekend and see how it goes. I need this. I'm going to try, try and think about how entirely blessed we are to live in houses, with beds, with three meals and day and the opportunity to get an education, and that’s barely scratching the surface.
Think about not reacting so mindlessly to things, things that matter.
nakupenda sana!(or, love you all in Swahili),
